Physical Description At first glance, there is remarkably little about Kira that suggests she serves the dark side.

She has long raven-black hair, dark eyes and an attractive, almost unremarkable appearance that allows her to disappear surprisingly easily into a crowd. Unlike some servants of the dark side, she does not habitually display yellow eyes, facial scarring or other obvious signs of corruption.

Nor does she particularly like the formal uniform of the Inquisitorius.

When permitted to choose her own clothing, Kira favours black trousers, knee-high boots and a fitted black crop top beneath a long black leather duster. The outfit gives her the appearance of a smuggler, mercenary or bounty hunter rather than an Imperial agent.

She likes it that way.

Her Inquisitor uniform and armour are generally reserved for formal duties, intimidation or missions where there is no reason to conceal what she is.

Personality & Traits

General Overview Kira is disturbingly normal.

She can laugh. She enjoys good food. She likes flying fast ships, expensive boots and winning arguments. She can sit in a cantina drinking with someone for an hour without giving them the slightest indication that she is capable of killing everyone in the room.

She does not consider cruelty a personality.

Violence is a tool.

Fear is a tool.

The Force is a tool.

She uses whichever one will accomplish the objective most efficiently.

This sometimes places her at odds with more theatrical members of the Inquisitorius. Kira has little patience for pointless torture, grand speeches or destroying something simply because she can.

She is nevertheless utterly ruthless when necessary.

Once she has decided someone is her target, she is extraordinarily difficult to shake.

Her greatest strength is patience. She will investigate disappearances, financial records, docking manifests and rumours for weeks if necessary rather than storm into a settlement waving a lightsaber.

She hunts Jedi like a detective hunts a murderer.

And she is very, very good at it.
Strengths & Weaknesses Kira plays with the hilt of her lightsaber when irritated.

She has a tendency to disappear without telling anyone where she is going.

She hates being micromanaged and has occasionally interpreted Imperial orders rather creatively.

She also has the dangerous habit of becoming curious about people she has been ordered to kill.

Personal Dossier

Personal History Kira Veylan was born on Corellia in 42 BBY.

Her Force sensitivity was discovered while she was still very young and she was taken to Coruscant to be trained by the Jedi Order.

Kira was an intelligent but difficult youngling.

She questioned everything.

Why were attachments forbidden?

Why was anger dangerous but fear acceptable?

Why did the Jedi involve themselves in the politics of the Republic while insisting that they were politically neutral?

Her instructors frequently described her as argumentative.

Kira preferred curious.

She eventually became a Padawan and, like thousands of others, was drawn into the Clone Wars.

War changed her understanding of the Jedi.

The Order had taught her that Jedi were peacekeepers.

Then they handed her a lightsaber, gave her command of soldiers and sent her to war.

Kira became good at it.

Perhaps too good.

She learned tactics, interrogation, infiltration and intelligence gathering. While other Jedi charged directly into battle, Kira preferred discovering where the enemy would be before the fighting started.

By the final year of the Clone Wars she had begun questioning whether she wanted to remain a Jedi at all.

She never had the opportunity to decide.

Order 66

When Order 66 was issued, Kira was away from Coruscant with her master and a clone detachment.

The clones turned on them.

Her master died buying Kira enough time to escape.

For several months she survived alone.

She abandoned her robes.

Cut her hair.

Stole clothes.

Stole credits.

Stole a ship.

And learned how enormous the galaxy became when practically every authority in it wanted you dead.

Eventually the Empire found her.

More precisely, the Inquisitorius found her.

Kira fought.

She lost.

She expected to die.

Instead, she was offered a choice.

Serve.

Or become another forgotten Jedi corpse.

Kira chose to live.

The Second Sister

The Empire stripped away Kira Veylan.

Her history became irrelevant.

Her former rank became irrelevant.

Even her name became unnecessary.

She became Second Sister.

Training within the Inquisitorius was brutal, designed as much to destroy loyalty to the Jedi as it was to teach its members how to hunt them.

Kira survived that too.

What her instructors discovered was that she possessed something immensely valuable.

She could pass for ordinary.

Send an armoured Inquisitor into a settlement and every surviving Jedi disappears before the shuttle touches down.

Send Kira Veylan?

She could spend three days drinking in the local cantina.

Talk to dock workers.

Flirt with a customs officer.

Bribe a mechanic.

Examine shipping records.

And quietly determine exactly where the Jedi was hiding.

Only then would the lightsaber appear.

The Empire began using Second Sister for investigations where discretion mattered.

Rumours of Jedi.

Missing children displaying impossible abilities.

Clone deserters.

Hidden Republic networks.

Force-sensitive fugitives.

She follows the trail.

And when she finds what the Empire is looking for, she decides how best to deal with it.

Usually she obeys her orders.

Usually.

Because somewhere beneath the black leather, Imperial title and red blade, Kira Veylan still remembers what it was like to be a Jedi.

She simply hasn't decided whether that part of her is dead yet.
