| Description | ![]() The Captain's Ready Room provides the commanding officer of the Wayfarer's Promise with a private workspace immediately accessible from the ship's command areas. It serves as an office, planning space and somewhere to hold conversations that would be inappropriate on an active bridge. A practical desk and computer terminal provide access to ship records, navigation information, cargo manifests, passenger documentation, financial accounts and operational reports. The Captain can review the vessel's status or conduct routine administration without occupying one of the bridge stations. The room is also used for private meetings with crew members, passengers, clients and visitors. Sensitive contracts, personnel matters and other confidential discussions can be handled here without requiring the larger Conference / Briefing Room. Storage compartments contain frequently required records and equipment, while a small amount of personalisation distinguishes the room from the more functional spaces surrounding it. The Wayfarer's Promise may be a working freighter, but its Captain spends enough time here for the compartment to have acquired some individual character. The Ready Room is deliberately modest. It is not intended as luxurious executive accommodation, nor does it replace the Captain's Cabin on Deck 2. Its purpose is simply to provide somewhere close to the bridge where the Captain can work, think and deal with the responsibilities of keeping an independent vessel flying. |
